The karamajong traditionally lived a nomadic lifstyle roaming the vast plains of Karamoja with large herds of livestock: cattle, sheep, goats and chicken. The size of their herd is a symbol of wealth and status.
The best time to visit Kidepo national park for game viewing is during the dry season, which falls
between June and September. During this period, animals congregate near water sources,
making them easier to spot.
During the rainy season, which spans from March to November, animals disperse to
higher and drier ground, making them harder to see. Keep in mind that these are also the two hottest
months, with average temperatures ranging from 27.5°C to 34°C. The rainy season is accompanied by high
humidity and dusty conditions, making it challenging for wildlife viewing.
